We are seeking to establish a pool of candidate for the role of Seasonal Detection Pilot.

Reporting to the Head of Operations, this position:

  • Participates in flying operations in fixed wing light aircraft for fire detection and reporting.

  • Other flying duties as directed by the Head of Operations.

Selection Criteria

Applicants should address the following essential criteria, including where possible the desirable criterion. These should be addressed in no more than two (2) pages in total, plus a cover letter.

  1. Evidence of an Australian Commercial Pilots Licence (A).

  2. Evidence of a current Class One medical.

  3. Evidence of a Tailwheel undercarriage endorsement.

  4. Minimum 10 hours Pilot-in-Command aviation experience of Tailwheel aircraft.

  5. Evidence of a current Aeroplane Flight Review with a minimum of 6 months’ validity to run.

  6. Evidence of a current Australian Security Identification Card (ASIC) or ability to hold

  7. Evidence of a current Dangerous Goods Awareness certificate.

  8. Minimum 300 hours Pilot in Command (Highly Desirable)

  9. Evidence of a multi engine class rating (Highly Desirable)

The following essential criteria will be assessed at some stage during the selection process. Desirable criteria will be assessed as required:

  1. Understanding of work, health and safety, equity and diversity principles and practices.

  2. Evidence of current CASA AOD through AviationWorx.

  3. Competence in use of Microsoft suite of software (i.e. MS Word, Excel, etc.)

  4. Familiarity with industry standard aviation flight planning software

  5. Competence in use of typical tablets for Electronic Flight Bag (ie Apple iPad) (Highly Desirable)

  6. Current ‘C’ Class Driver’s Licence.

  7. Experience in aerial fire detection and reporting operations. (Desirable)
