About the role
The Performance Assurance and Risk (PAR) Directorate conducts independent reviews into the death in custody of prisoners as well as discretionary reviews at the request of the coroner.
The team works collaboratively with partners across the Department to deliver shared outcomes and benefits for stakeholders.
The Review Officer is responsible for undertaking independent reviews of reportable deaths to proactively identify opportunities for improvement and providing advice and recommendations to assist the Coroner’s investigation into the treatment and care of the deceased while in custody. The role also contributes to improving operational processes to mitigate risks.

Permanent positions – To be eligible for appointment to permanent positions in the West Australian Public Sector you must be an Australian citizen or have permanent resident status in Australia.

- Demonstrated experience conducting sensitive reviews into reportable deaths within a complex organisation environment including the ability to take statements from witnesses and respondents.
- Knowledge of administrative and judicial procedures with a thorough understanding of relevant coronial processes and requirements of the Coroner’s Act 1996.
