Swan Canning Waterways Branch plays a pivotal role in the management and protection of the Swan Canning Riverpark, as guided by the Swan and Canning Rivers Management Act 2006 and the Swan Canning River Protection Strategy. The Branch is responsible for the day-to-day management of the Swan Canning Riverpark and the handling of development proposals affecting the Riverpark.

We currently have an opportunity for a Project Officer to join our team.

Reporting to the Manager, Strategic Programs Unit, this position:

  • Assists in policy research, development and reviews, legislation processes, and strategic planning related to environmental and planning matters for the Swan Canning river system.

  • Undertakes special projects on behalf of the Swan Canning Waterways Branch to assist in achieving strategic goals.

Selection Criteria

Applicants should address the following four (4) criteria. These should be addressed in no more than three (3) pages in total.

  1. Sound knowledge of and experience in the management of planning and environment issues within the context of relevant legislation, policies and programs.

  2. Well-developed problem-solving and analytical skills, including the ability to research issues, analyses information and propose practical responses to environmental or planning issues.

  3. Well-developed verbal communication, interpersonal, and liaison skills, with the ability to achieve desirable outcomes and work collaboratively in a team environment.

  4. Ability to deliver and coordinate projects in an effective and organised manner conducive to managing multiple tasks and meeting deadlines and budgets.
