THIS POSITION IS BASED IN FREMANTLE
(COMMUTING TO ROTTNEST ISLAND AS REQUIRED)

APPLICATIONS FOR THIS POSITION CLOSE AT
MIDDAY ON WEDNESDAY, 29 JULY 2026

Job Description

This position has primary responsibility for the commercial and performance architecture of Visitor Services, leading the development of revenue generation strategies, pricing frameworks, yield management and commercial insights that support the financial sustainability of the directorate.

The role is accountable for maximising revenue outcomes while ensuring that commercial decisions are informed by cost, operational feasibility and service delivery considerations.

Reporting to the Director Visitor Services, the position plays a central role in shaping revenue strategy, business performance logic and data-driven decision making across Visitor Services. Working in close partnership with the Manager Visitor Services – Business Operations, the role ensures that revenue initiatives, pricing models and commercial strategies are jointly developed, operationally viable and aligned with delivery capability, asset constraints and workforce capacity.

The role has direct responsibility for Reservations, accommodation sales performance and Visitor Services finance and administration support. It provides leadership across the end-to-end pre-island commercial functions, including booking systems, pricing, distribution channels, demand forecasting and revenue performance analysis.

The position owns the development of commercial assumptions used in business planning and supports the Director Visitor Services to prioritise initiatives through robust financial, market and performance analysis.

Operating in a complex, high-volume visitor services environment, the role works collaboratively with the Manager Visitor Services – Business Operations and with internal stakeholders including Marketing, Infrastructure, Environment, Heritage and Parks teams to ensure that revenue opportunities are optimised without compromising visitor experience, operational delivery or compliance obligations. The role is also responsible for managing and overseeing designated commercial systems and vendors, and for working jointly with Business Operations to agree system changes that affect both revenue generation and operational delivery.

The position contributes to the development of Visitor Services plans and initiatives and is accountable for monitoring, analysing and reporting on revenue performance and commercial outcomes arising from approved initiatives. It evaluates whether initiatives are delivering anticipated revenue benefits, pricing outcomes and return on investment, and provides insights and recommendations to inform continuous improvement and future decision making. The role leads a team and promotes a culture of commercial discipline, analytical capability and collaboration, supporting Visitor Services’ position as a leading revenue-generating and front-facing directorate of the Authority.

At the Rottnest Island Authority (RIA), we have adopted Leadership Expectations which provides a common understanding of the mindsets and expected behaviours required of all our employees and the public sector. In this role, you will be Leading Leaders to help drive positive change.
