We are establishing a 12 month appointment pool for vacancies that may arise. We may offer permanent, fixed term, full time, part time or casual appointments, with the possibility of a further term and/or permanency.
About the role
We are seeking industry-experienced Lecturers to deliver high-quality training across Mining and Work Health & Safety (WHS), contributing to the development of a skilled, job-ready workforce in key WA industries. Across both areas, you will foster practical skills, critical thinking, and industry readiness in an engaging learning environment.
In Mining, you will deliver industry-aligned training across areas such as autonomous operations, drilling operations, mining exploration, and resource processing, preparing students for real-world operational environments.
In Work Health & Safety, you will support students to develop practical skills in areas including risk assessment, compliance, incident investigation, and continuous improvement, enabling them to operate effectively as safety practitioners.
The lecturer’s primary role is to teach, facilitate learning, assess, and mentor students in accordance with relevant curriculum and/or training package requirements. Lecturers also undertake professional activities and activities related to delivery. To ensure training remains current and industry-relevant, lecturers are expected to maintain up-to-date knowledge of technological, legislative, and industry developments through ongoing professional development, and provide informed advice to the College and industry where appropriate.
Relevant Qualification and Experience
To be eligible for employment you must have at least 5 years industry experience and hold qualifications in:
Work Health and Safety
Certificate IV or above in Workplace Health and Safety
Mining - Preferred qualifications include but are not limited to:
Certificate III or IV in:
- Autonomous Operations / Automation / Control Systems
- Surface Extraction Operations
- Resource Processing / Mining Operations
Diploma or Advanced Diploma in:
- Mining Engineering, Automation, or Process Operations
- Electrical / Instrumentation / Control Systems
Trade or technical qualification relevant to:
- Mechatronics / robotics / PLC systems
There is a minimum qualification required to deliver accredited vocational education and training (VET) as defined by the Registration Standards 2025 (2025 Standards), or its successors. The current minimum qualification required is the Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40122, TAE40116, or TAE40110), or a secondary teaching qualification with an Assessor Skill Set (TAESS00011, TAESS00019, or TAESS00024).
Applicants who do not yet hold the minimum required VET credentials are still eligible to apply, however North Metro TAFE will require the successful candidate to be enrolled, and have commenced training in, an approved training and assessment credential and record satisfactory progress to enable the credential to be completed within two years from commencement.
