The Role

Applications are invited for the position of Head of IT Commercial.

The Head of IT Commercial leads the Insurance Commission’s technology investments, commercial governance, financial management, and ICT asset functions. The role ensures technology spending, contracts, vendors, and assets deliver value, manage risk, and meet compliance requirements.

Acting as the link between Technology, Finance, Legal, and Procurement, the role oversees the full technology lifecycle, from planning and sourcing to contract management and benefits realisation. It ensures technology investments support the Commission’s strategic goals and enable secure, efficient, and customer-focused operations.

The Insurance Commission will offer a five-year contract with a competitive remuneration package to attract an outstanding candidate.

The Person

You bring senior expertise in technology investment, commercial governance, and vendor management, the role leads complex ICT procurements and contract negotiations within public sector frameworks. It ensures strong governance, effective risk management, and commercial outcomes that support organisational objectives.

You will be able to oversee financial performance through business case development, TCO and ROI analysis, and the optimisation of technology investments, including cloud services and software assets. You will also provide senior leadership in stakeholder engagement, influencing outcomes across executive and cross-agency environments while fostering collaboration and clear strategic communication.

Appointment Information

In addition to the immediately available position, appointments may be made from this process within a twelve-month period to similar positions that may be permanent or contract, including fixed term appointments with the possibility of extension or subsequent permanency.
