We currently have an opportunity for a Fire Policy and Planning Officer to join our team.

Under the direction of the Manager Fire Policy and Planning, this position:

  • maintains the Fire Extranet content and presentation;

  • maintains the administration associated with the State Bushfire Preformed Teams;

  • project manages the fire management doctrine including its review and compliance with doctrine standards; and

  • assists with projects and administration across the policy and planning work.

Selection Criteria

Applicants should address the following four (4) criteria. These should be addressed in no more than three (3) pages in total.

  1. Experience in gathering, organising, analysing and summarising data and information with the ability to formulate recommendations for approval within agreed timeframes.

  2. Evidence of well-developed written communication skills to prepare reports, correspondence and public presentations.

  3. Evidence of good oral and interpersonal skills and experience in effectively communicating and negotiating with individuals and organisations on relevant matters.

  4. Experience and knowledge of natural resource management with a preference for an understanding of fire management and its relationship (or interaction) with biodiversity conservation.
