The Role
East Victoria Park ESC is ideally seeking a passionate, flexible and highly motivated Education Assistant – Special Needs to join our dedicated and supportive team.
Working collaboratively with teachers and allied professionals, the successful applicant will assist in implementing high-quality educational programs that support students' academic, social, emotional and physical development. You will contribute to creating safe, inclusive and engaging learning environments that enable every student to achieve their individual goals.
Our staff embrace evidence-based practices and work collectively to deliver programs that focus on functional literacy, numeracy, communication, self-regulation and life skills. As an Education Assistant, you would play a vital role in supporting student success through consistent, responsive and compassionate practice.

Desirable Experience:
Applicants with experience working in a primary Education Support setting and supporting students with Autism Spectrum Disorder, Intellectual Disability, Physical Disability and complex behavioural needs will be highly regarded.
Experience or knowledge in the following areas is highly desirable:
- Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC)
- Positive Behaviour Support (PBS)
- Berry Street Education Model (BSEM)
- Talk for Writing
- Letters and Sounds
- Zones of Regulation
- Neuro-affirming educational practices
- Supporting communication, self-regulation and independence skills

- A CV of up to two (2) pages outlining your employment history and professional learning summary relevant to this position; and

- Demonstrated effective written and oral communication skills, including report writing and the ability to effectively interact with students with special needs, and liaise with parents, teachers and community members and assist teachers in understanding students where necessary.
- Demonstrated effective interpersonal skills with the ability to contribute to a professional team and provide advice and evaluation in the development of the education program, including special education and therapy programs where they have been implemented.
- Demonstrated ability to assist professionals in the implementation and evaluation of education programs, including special education and, if required, occupational and/or physiotherapy programs.
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of health and physical disabilities in students and adolescents.
- Demonstrated effective organisational skills that will assist in the delivery of effective education programs and subsequent feedback and evaluation to teachers or psychologists.
- Demonstrated ability to assist with the general health and well being of students.
