We are seeking to establish a pool of Education Assistant - Special Needs for permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2026 and 2027 school years. Appointments may be offered at any time for vacancies that commence during this period.

Beechboro Primary School (PS), 14km east of Perth, caters for students from Kindergarten to Year 6. The Role

As an Education Assistant - Special Needs, you would support student learning through assisting the teacher in delivering planned education programs including the operation of computers and digital technologies and implement individual student or small group programs. Suitable applicants would work under general supervision and guidance performing tasks that require limited discretion and judgement in achieving clearly defined outcomes determined by the teacher.

Suitable applicants would apply their techniques, skills and knowledge of relevant principles and practices acquired through previous experience, on the job learning or relevant qualification.

The desired applicants will ideally be friendly, cohesive, student focused and team spirited. Suitable applicants should show excellent communication, interpersonal and organisational skills as well as work in a highly collaborative manner in promoting a supportive and inclusive learning environment. The ability to work independently, and at times without supervision; and the ability to think on your feet and use your initiative to manage challenging behaviours are also highly desirable.

  • Demonstrated good interpersonal skills, including the ability to work as part of a team in the evaluation of educational programs, including special education and therapy programs where these have been implemented.
  • Demonstrated good organisational skills that will assist in the delivery and development of effective education programs to students and subsequent feedback to teaching professionals or psychologists.
  • Demonstrated ability to assist teachers or therapists in implementing educational programs, including special education and, should this be a requirement of the position, occupational and/or physiotherapy programs.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of health and physical disabilities in students and adolescents.
  • Demonstrated ability to assist with general health and well-being of students.
