A future focused leader is sought for the position of Director General of the Department of Planning, Lands and Heritage.

The Department of Planning, Lands and Heritage shapes the future of our cities, regions and towns.

The department is responsible for state level land use planning and management and has oversight of Aboriginal cultural heritage and historic heritage matters. The department responds to and balances demands on the land. This includes proactively planning and advising on key development projects across the state to ensure communities can continue to prosper in future generations. The department plans how to make best use of the state’s natural and built assets for the sustainable and responsible development of all WA communities

The Director General provides effective leadership to the department, developing and maintaining a positive agency culture of collaboration, continuous learning, stewardship and excellence.

To be successful in this position, you will need a deep understanding of housing, planning and land issues, demonstrated experience with reform, organisational change management, exceptional relationship building skills, outstanding negotiation and influencing abilities and an established track record of delivering on strategic priorities. This includes outstanding leadership with high integrity, experience building high achieving teams and organisational cultures, and forecasting future community needs.

This is a fixed term position of up to 5 years with a competitive remuneration package, including a salary of $415,479, a motor vehicle or motor vehicle allowance, plus superannuation.
