About Our Team:

The Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) in Western Australia offer support, advice and treatment to children and adolescents from birth to 18 years who are experiencing mental health challenges.

The Gender Diversity Service (GDS) is a specialist outpatient service that offers an affirming approach to support gender diverse young people and their families. GDS is the only specialist service in WA providing multi-disciplinary specialist assessment and access to gender affirming medical care for young people in WA. GDS also has a well-established research partnership with The Kids Research Institute Australia

Gender diversity is part of the normal spectrum of diversity, not a mental health condition, a significant amount of the cohort have mental health needs. About the Role:

The nursing roles involve supporting young people and families at the point of referral by providing initial assessment, information, and support. We are seeking Clinical Nurses to join our team to deliver gender-affirming care and therapeutic interventions for young people, working collaboratively with families and carers.

As a Clinical Nurse, you will contribute to the planning, coordination, implementation, and evaluation of care and support services for young people and their families. You will work as part of a multidisciplinary team and collaborate with community services and other key stakeholders to ensure high-quality, coordinated care.

What you will bring:

  • A commitment to providing a gender-affirming approach for gender-diverse children, young people, and their families.
  • A minimum of five years' experience as a Registered Nurse, including experience in mental health assessment and support.
  • Previous experience working in a clinical or supportive role with gender-diverse people (desirable).
  • Experience working with children, adolescents, and families (desirable).
  • The ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to work across internal and external services and stakeholders.

Registration as a Registered Nurse by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia is required.

Whilst this selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancies, it may also be used to fill other "similar" vacancies throughout the health service. In addition to this, should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised vacancy, then the next most suitable applicant may also be selected from this process. Both of these options remain valid for a period of twelve (12) months from when the authorised delegate endorses the recruitment decision. These can be permanent full time, permanent part time or fixed term full time, fixed term part time opportunities with the possibility of extension and/or permanency.
