Are you an experienced nursing professional with a passion for oncology care? The Western Australian Country Health Service is seeking a dedicated Clinical Nurse Consultant to provide expert clinical guidance and leadership within our Oncology Coordination team. In this vital role, you will ensure the delivery of high-quality cancer care while promoting best practices and supporting both patients and healthcare professionals in the community.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and manage a multi-disciplinary ward service, collaborating with all interdisciplinary teams within the region.
• Provide advanced clinical leadership to medical, nursing, and allied health professionals in cancer care.
• Initiate and evaluate research to establish and promote clinical best practices in oncology.
• Develop, implement, and promote evidence-based standards and policies compliant with relevant regulations.
• Actively participate in the recruitment, selection, and orientation of staff to build a strong oncology team.
• Manage quality improvement activities and provide clinical statistics and reports as required.

Suitability Criteria: Suitability recognises that a range of factors contribute to merit, including skills, knowledge, abilities, behaviours, ethical alignment and relevant operational requirements. The suitability requirements below are derived from the Job Description Form and define what will be assessed to determine your suitability for the role:

• Current eligibility for registration as a Registered Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia, with extensive oncology nursing knowledge and demonstrated expertise in coordinating care for patients with complex cancer-related needs.
• Demonstrated ability to lead and coordinate high-quality, patient-centred oncology services, applying advanced clinical judgement, evidence-based practice, quality improvement methodologies, and patient safety principles to optimise patient outcomes.
• Highly developed interpersonal, consultation and communication skills, with the ability to build effective relationships and work collaboratively with patients, families, multidisciplinary teams and external stakeholders across the cancer care continuum.
• Well-developed analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage complex clinical situations, identify service improvement opportunities and support effective care coordination and decision-making.
• Sound understanding of human resource management principles and experience contributing to team leadership, staff development and service delivery, together with possession of, or eligibility to obtain, a current C or C-A Class Driver's Licence.

Area Profile

The Goldfields region of the WA Country Health Service covers the Goldfields-Esperance Region of Western Australia. The region is located in the south eastern corner of Western Australia and covers 770,488 sq km (including offshore islands). The WA Country Health Service Goldfields consists of two main health campuses located in Kalgoorlie & Esperance, and three smaller hospitals located in Laverton, Leonora, and Norseman.
