About the role

Following the development of a Countering Violent Extremism (CVE) specific service delivery framework for Corrective Services, the Clinical/Counselling/Forensic Psychologists in the CVE space are responsible for the provision of specialised clinical intervention and psychological assessment services and for case management of young people and adult offenders in custody and the community, with a specific focus on addressing CVE related treatment needs identified through the forensic assessment process.

Suitability Requirements

  • The ability to provide specialist consultant advice.
  • A demonstrated ability to undertake a range of psychological assessments and interventions including case management associated with offending behaviour or identified CVE related needs in accordance with psychological principles and theories of offending behaviour.
  • The ability to develop and undertake research of a clinical, applied and evaluative nature.
  • The ability to contribute to disciplinary and multi-disciplinary teams, including contributing to triage functions as required.
  • Ability to build and manage ongoing working relationships with a range of relevant stakeholders and service providers.
  • The ability to develop, contribute to and provide staff training and development.
  • The capacity to coordinate, support and assist professional colleagues as required.
  • The capacity to contribute to policy development.
  • The capacity to provide supervision to psychologists including those working towards endorsement in an approved area of practice endorsement (SC2) subject to meeting the minimum training/years of practice required by the Psychology Board of Australia in order to be Board accredited as a supervisor.

  • WWC positions – In accordance with the National Child Safety Principles, people who work directly with children and young people, you must have a current Working with Children Check or be able to successfully apply for one to be eligible for appointment to this position. 
  • All applicants are required to have a valid C Class Drivers Licence and may be required to travel within Western Australia for operational purposes.

Qualifications

  • Applicants are required to have an accredited Masters, Doctorate or equivalent degree in Clinical, Forensic or Counselling Psychology. They are also required to hold general registration as a Psychologist with the Psychology Board of Australia and endorsement in Clinical, Forensic or Counselling Psychology.
