This process is for two (2) permanent full time vacancies, one (1) at Melaleuca Women’s Prison and one (1) at Bandyup Women’s Prison, commencing as soon as possible.

 

About the role

The Clerical Officer at Bandyup Women’s Prison is responsible for providing clerical support to the business unit, ensuring that approved administration processes are maintained. This includes, but is not limited to, word processing, maintaining correspondence and filing systems, attending to telephone and reception and general clerical duties.

The Visits Booking Officer at Melaleuca Women’s Prison will be responsible for processing all prisoner visit bookings via phone and/or forms. The position will also maintain contact information for the Centre’s phone system.

Suitability Requirements

Through the recruitment process, we will be looking for candidates who can demonstrate skills, experience and attributes in relation to the following:

  1. Communicates and Influences Effectively - The ability to explain information using language appropriate to the client while limiting the use of jargon, listen and ask questions to ensure understanding and to confirm that the message has been understood and to discuss issues calmly.
  2. Builds Productive Relationships - The capacity to responds under direction to changes in client needs and expectations, manage progress and keeps clients informed and provide prompt and courteous service, as well as the capacity to recognise the value of individual differences and work styles.
  3. Demonstrated good oral and written communication skills including good interpersonal skills and ability to work as part of a team.
  4. The ability to use the Microsoft Office Program (Word, Excel, Outlook) to perform data entry and retrieval and collate information / statistics.

Eligibility

To be eligible for appointment to permanent positions in the West Australian Public Sector you must be an Australian citizen or have permanent resident status in Australia.

Subsequent Vacancies

Applicants found suitable but not recommended for this vacancy, may be considered for subsequent similar vacancies for a period of twelve (12) months, in accordance with section 7d of the Commissioner’s Instructions No.48 – Recruitment, Selection and Appointment to Permanent Vacancies, and section 9d of the Commissioner Instructions 49 - Recruitment, Selection and Appointment to Fixed Term Vacancies. Permanent, fixed term, full time and part time appointments may be offered at Perth Metropolitan area during this period.
