The Department of Education’s Broome Camp School delivers immersive, curriculum aligned outdoor learning programs for diverse student groups. These experiences promote personal growth, environmental stewardship, teamwork, and cultural understanding. The Camp School Manager leads the strategic direction and daily operations of the facility, overseeing program development, staff, stakeholder engagement, and resource management. The role ensures the delivery of high-quality, inclusive, and culturally responsive outdoor education programs that reflect the unique environmental and cultural heritage of Broome and the wider Kimberley region.

The Role
The successful applicant will oversee the administration of the camp school, including staff, finances, assets, resources, and the maintenance of buildings and grounds. They will lead the design, implementation, and evaluation of engaging, curriculum-aligned outdoor, recreation and environmental education programs.
They will additionally liaise with stakeholders, including Traditional Owners, to plan and deliver culturally responsive educational programs such as two-way science and on-Country learning, relevant to the camp school’s coastal environment and will research natural and social sciences and assess sites of interest for inclusion in educational programs.
Further duties will include promoting the camp school to principals and school group leaders providing information that encourages use of facilities for day, short-stay and extended programs, as well as implementing management processes to maximise effective use of facilities and resources, aiming for self-sustainability where possible.

Eligibility
To work with us, you must:
- be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, permanent resident or have a valid visa with relevant work rights for the term of the appointment.
- consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education’s Screening Unit before you start.
- hold a current A class drivers licence
- hold a current Senior First Aid certificate
- hold a qualification in aquatic rescue (minimum - Bronze Medallion/Austswim Certificate) appropriate to the location
- hold a recognised qualification in teaching and be currently registered or eligible for registration to teach in Western Australia
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check

- Demonstrated high-level oral, written and interpersonal communication skills suitable for a range of specific purposes and audiences, including the ability to liaise effectively with stakeholders at all levels and build good working relationships.
