About the role

The Administrative Assistant works as part of the prison administrative team and provides a high level of administrative and clerical support including a range of tasks and activities that contribute to the fluent operations of the prison.

It is also highly desirable that successful applicants possess a C Class Driver's Licence or equivalent.

To be eligible for appointment to permanent positions in the West Australian Public Sector you must be an Australian citizen or have permanent resident status in Australia.

Please ensure you review the attached Job Description Form (JDF) for further information about the requirements of the position. This information will assist you with the preparation of your application.

We require you to submit:

  1. A comprehensive Resume / Curriculum Vitae, that clearly outlines your transferable skills, experience and highlights your key achievements.
  2. Contact details of two (2) recent work referees, one (1) of whom should be your current or most recent supervisor where possible.
  3. Provide a statement of no more than two (2) pages addressing the following Role Specific Criteria below as listed on the JDF. Please provide examples to support your claims.
  • Knowledge and experience of administrative and clerical procedures, customer service, data entry, and communication systems such as switchboard and intercom.
  • The ability to adjust methods and styles of communication to suit the cultural needs of clients including the ability to communicate effectively with Aboriginal people and remain polite, calm and diplomatic when faced with difficult customers.

All the remaining Job Related Requirements and Role Specific Criteria as listed on the JDF will be assessed at a later stage in the recruitment process.

Subsequent Vacancies

Applicants found suitable but not recommended for this vacancy, may be considered for subsequent similar vacancies for a period of twelve (12) months, in accordance with section 7d of the Commissioner’s Instructions No.48 – Recruitment, Selection and Appointment to Permanent Vacancies, and section 9d of the Commissioner Instructions 49 - Recruitment, Selection and Appointment to Fixed Term Vacancies. Permanent, fixed term, full time and part time appointments may be offered at Eastern Goldfields Regional Prison during this period.
