
We are seeking to establish a pool of Gardener – Handyperson for permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2026 school year and up to the end of Term 2, 2027. Appointments may be offered at any time for vacancies that commence during this period.
Beechboro Primary School (PS), 14km east of Perth, caters for students from Kindergarten to Year 6. The Role
The Gardener - Handyperson plays a vital role in creating and maintaining a safe, attractive and welcoming school environment that supports positive learning outcomes for students and staff. As key members of the school team, suitable applicants will be responsible for the upkeep and presentation of the school grounds, including turf areas, garden beds, shrubs, trees and other soft landscaping features, as well as hard landscaping areas such as courts, paving and sports facilities.
This role is ideal for someone who takes pride in their work, thrives when working independently and enjoys maintaining and improving outdoor and indoor spaces. Suitable applicants will perform general gardening duties, identify and complete jobs proactively and competently, perform minor maintenance/repair and handyperson tasks in accordance with the Department of Education’s policies and guidelines.
Working collaboratively with school staff, external contractors and the Manager Corporate Services, suitable applicants will help ensure school grounds, facilities, tools, equipment and machinery are maintained in a clean, safe and serviceable condition. Suitable applicants will also be required to comply with Occupational Safety and Health requirements, including the safe use, storage and management of gardening equipment, materials and hazardous substances.
Suitable applicants will ideally display effective communication skills, be well-organised, self-motivated and reliable with the ability to build and maintain strong working relationships with staff and external contractors.
