North Mandurah PS is seeking an experienced, highly skilled and passionate Lead Education Assistant to join our team. The Role
The Lead Education Assistant is a key member of the Student Services and Inclusion team. Working closely with the Principal, Deputy Principals, Student Services team and SLP Coordinator, the successful applicant should provide leadership, guidance and support to Education Assistants while ensuring students receive high-quality, consistent support across the school.
Key Responsibilities:
The successful applicant will ideally display:
- Respond to student escalations, providing timely intervention, co-regulation and de-escalation strategies to support students to successfully return to learning.
- Support the implementation and monitoring of Behaviour Support Plans, Risk Management Plans and Individual Education Plans.
- Work collaboratively with staff to develop proactive strategies that promote positive behaviour, engagement and inclusion.
- Assist in coordinating supports and interventions across both the Specialist Learning Program and mainstream settings.
- Support attendance improvement initiatives through family engagement, monitoring attendance concerns and assisting students to re-engage with school.
- Coach, mentor and support Education Assistants, modelling best practice and building staff capability through feedback, guidance and professional learning.
- Promote consistent school-wide practices and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement.
- Work collaboratively with teachers, allied health professionals, external agencies and families to support positive student outcomes.
- Maintain accurate records and contribute to case management and student support processes.
- Support the implementation of trauma-informed, inclusive and student-centred practices across the school.
- Coordinate Education Assistant relief coverage to ensure continuity of support for students and staff.
- Monitor staffing requirements and work collaboratively with school leadership to manage daily Education Assistant allocations.
- Provide leadership and line management support to Education Assistants, including performance feedback, coaching and professional guidance.
- Conduct regular check-ins with Education Assistants to support wellbeing, professional growth and effective workplace practices.
- Assist with the induction of new Education Assistants, ensuring they are familiar with school procedures, expectations and student support processes.
- Facilitate effective communication between Education Assistants, teachers and leadership to ensure coordinated and consistent support for students.
- Contribute to performance development and review processes in consultation with school leadership.
- Display initiative, professionalism and sound judgement in responding to student, staff and operational matters, exercising discretion in problem-solving, decision-making and always maintaining confidentiality.

- Demonstrated well developed oral communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to lead, mentor, coach, induct and train other Education Assistants and professional teams, including providing advice and evaluating education programs.
- Demonstrated well developed written communication skills, including report writing, and the ability to coordinate, collect and present student data at a whole school community level in a meaningful way.
- Demonstrated well developed organisational skills, including the ability to coordinate staff rosters and relief to assist in the delivery of effective education programs
