About the Role
Carnarvon School of the Air is seeking a high-performing leader for the role of Principal. The successful applicant will be responsible for establishing and maintaining a school culture that promotes positive relationships between students and staff, whilst engaging parents and the wider community in the educational work of the school.
In collaboration with the leadership team, you will work to ensure teachers are supported to create learning environments that promote achievement for every student. You will lead the implementation of evidence-based, whole-school teaching strategies and programs in core curriculum areas. Ideally you will have experience in leading, knowledge of the science of learning, and an understanding of the Department of Education's Quality Teaching Strategy. Proven experience in setting the right conditions for teachers to cater to students with diverse learning needs through data informed practice is highly desirable.
The principal is responsible for using innovation and creativity to establish systems and structures fostering academic development to nurture the social and emotional development of students, whilst engaging the school community within educational programs of the school. You will possess a commitment to continuous school improvement, and the development of high-quality teaching and learning. The principal will build strategic networks with other schools, local agencies, and services in the community to benefit school programs. Carnarvon School of the Air is part of the Desert Coast Network and is committed to the Midwest Targeted Teaching Program based on evidence-based practice. The school has developed extensive programs to support all students including students with complex needs and students with a disability. The principal will have excellent interpersonal and public relations skills, whilst understanding the importance of working with the local community.
The principal will have a strong understanding of leading a culturally responsive school, valuing the local Aboriginal community.
