The Role
The Cleaner in Charge is responsible for overseeing the opening and closing of the school and performing various internal and external cleaning duties.This includes maintaining carpets and hard floor surfaces, cleaning toilets, furniture, and fittings, dusting, window cleaning, rubbish removal, and other general cleaning tasks.
Externally, the role involves cleaning verandas, covered areas, and drinking troughs, removing cobwebs, and performing general upkeep of the grounds.The Cleaner in Charge will also oversee vacation cleaning tasks such as stripping and sealing vinyl floors, shampooing carpets, pressure cleaning verandas and undercover areas, and other related duties.
In addition to cleaning responsibilities, the suitable applicants will ideally have experience in supervising staff. They should manage and work alongside school staff, ensuring optimal performance in consultation with the Manager of Corporate Services.
The Cleaner in Charge will maintain the cleaner’s time book, arrange for relief staff when necessary, monitor and order cleaning supplies, conduct regular stocktakes and manage equipment maintenance and replacement.
