The Role
Balcatta Senior High School is seeking a motivated and organised Home Economics Assistant to support the delivery of engaging and high-quality educational programs.
The role involves preparing and maintaining classroom environments, including organising equipment, materials, and resources for practical lessons, displays, and demonstrations. You would assist with the cleaning, maintenance, and safe storage of equipment and facilities, ensuring high standards of hygiene and safety are always maintained. Additionally, you will regularly check equipment and report any faults or discrepancies to the Home Economics teacher.
Working under teacher direction, the successful applicant will assist in the delivery of planned education programs, including the operation of computers, sewing machines and various kitchen equipment. The role may include supporting individual students and small group activities. You would play an important role in creating a positive, inclusive, and well-organised learning environment.
Part of this role may also include providing assistance with student supervision during out-of-class activities and excursions, support the general wellbeing of students, and contribute to a safe and supportive learning environment. Inventory management duties, including monitoring stock levels, maintaining resource lists, and assisting with ordering, may also be required.
The desired applicant will ideally have good oral and written communication skills, including the ability to interact with students, parents and teaching professionals. Good organisational and interpersonal skills are highly desirable to effectively provide support to the teacher in delivering educational programmes.
