Parkwood Primary School (PS), established in 1975, is located at the eastern end of the Fremantle–Peel Education District, adjacent to Lynwood Senior High School. Our school provides high-quality facilities, equipment and resources that support rich and engaging learning experiences. We currently cater for approximately 600 students from Kindergarten to Year 6, including around 100 students enrolled in our Intensive English Centre.

The Role
Parkwood PS is seeking a knowledgeable, dedicated and values-driven Deputy Principal (Student Services) to join our high-performing leadership team. This pivotal role calls for a strong moral purpose and an unwavering commitment to placing positive student outcomes at the centre of all decision-making.
The successful applicant will ideally:
- Lead and sustain a culture of high expectations for all students
- Oversee the coordination of complex student case management, including disability resourcing applications
- Work collaboratively with the Learning Support Coordinator, School Psychologist, Education Assistants and the wider Student Services team
- Support teachers and allied professionals to reflect on practice and identify opportunities for continuous improvement
- Engage effectively with students, parents/carers and external agencies, particularly in supporting students with diagnosed or imputed disabilities
The Deputy Principal - Student Services will play a key role in embedding a whole-school approach to student wellbeing, behaviour and engagement. The successful applicant will ideally display experience in applying a Multi-tiered System of Supports (MTSS) framework to support student wellbeing, social-emotional development and behaviour.
A strong understanding of the science of learning and evidence-based practices is important. The role involves close collaboration with the Deputy Principal (Curriculum) to ensure Tier 2 and Tier 3 intervention programs are targeted, effective and responsive to student needs. Experience with explicit instruction programs including UFLI, Heggerty, Word Origins and Prime Mathematics will be highly regarded.
The Deputy Principal - Student Services will also lead the implementation of whole-school wellbeing initiatives. Parkwood PS has adopted the Berry Street Education Model, and experience in this approach will be highly valued. You will work closely with the Wellbeing Leader, Student Wellbeing Officer and teaching staff to ensure consistent and effective implementation across the school.
