Northam Senior High School (SHS) is seeking a highly motivated, experienced Mathematics Teacher committed to achieving outstanding educational outcomes for all students.

The school stands on the bank of the Avon River and has a proud and rich history of providing a comprehensive curriculum to students in Years 7 to 12 from the Northam and surrounding Wheatbelt districts students. With over 650 students, we are the largest school in the Wheatbelt region of Western Australia.

The Role

Northam SHS is seeking a highly motivated Mathematics Teacher committed to maximising the progress of all students.

Northam SHS caters for a diverse range of students and is seeking to appoint staff who are student- and relationship-focused and possess engaging teaching, learning, and assessment practices. Suitable applicants will be reflective practitioners who collaborate effectively within the learning area team, the learning community team and the wider school community to support students’ academic and social-emotional needs.

Applicants should ideally possess the professional knowledge, understanding, and experience to deliver engaging and relevant Mathematics programs across Years 7 to 12. Eligible staff will receive a percentage of this payment on commencement at the school, with the remainder paid at the end of the school year. Staff must remain employed in the location until the end of the school year to be eligible to receive the second payment.

The temporary ARI payment is in addition to other incentives that may apply in this school.

Mobility appointments for permanent metropolitan and south west teachers

Eligible permanent teachers who hold a substantive teaching position in a North or South Education Region school, or a South West Education Region school* may elect to undertake this role as a 3-year mobility appointment, with a right of return to their substantive position. At the cessation of the 3-year mobility appointment, teachers can elect to return to their substantive role, or transfer permanently into this school.
