We are seeking to establish a pool of Special Needs Education Assistants for permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2026 school year and up to the end of Term 2, 2027. Appointments may be offered at any time for vacancies that commence during this period.

The Role

Suitable applicants will ideally work as part of a team in collaboration with the teacher to create an inclusive and supportive environment. You will ideally work under limited supervision and guidance, and perform tasks that require discretion, judgement, and initiative in achieving clearly defined outcomes determined by the teacher.

You should have good interpersonal skills, be highly motivated, and possess sound written and oral communication skills to support individual or small group-based programs. Just as importantly, you should have the capacity to support the overall health and emotional well-being of our students. Experience with upper primary students and supporting their transition to high school will be highly regarded.

1. Demonstrated good written and oral communication skills, including the ability to interact with students with special needs, parents and teaching professionals on the provision of educational programs, and to assist teachers in understanding students where necessary.
2. Demonstrated good interpersonal skills, including the ability to work as part of a team in the evaluation of educational programs, including special education and therapy programs where these have been implemented.
3. Demonstrated good organisational skills that will assist in the delivery and development of effective education programs to students and subsequent feedback to teaching professionals or psychologists.
5. Demonstrated knowledge of health and physical disabilities in students and adolescents.
