Location Services provides trusted location data and spatial services to support the management and development of Western Australia to benefit the community. Earth Observation creates and maintains the State's foundational location information, explores advanced earth observation and delivers remote sensing services to customers.

About the roles

Imagery Officer (Level 4)

The Imagery Officer delivers high quality imagery and spatial information products that support location-based services and informed decision making. The role integrates and analyses complex imagery and spatial datasets using geographic information systems, contributing to advanced processing, automation and continuous improvement. Working collaboratively, the position engages with stakeholders to resolve issues, respond to enquiries and deliver reliable, customer-focused solutions.

Imagery Solutions Consultant (Level 5)

The Imagery Solutions Consultant designs and delivers earth observation solutions that turn imagery and spatial data into high‑-value spatial information products. Working across imagery science, GIS and systems development, the role leads the translation of business needs into practical applications and product solutions, including critical emergency management and natural resource initiatives. The position partners closely with stakeholders to scope requirements, contribute to system and product development, and support continuous improvement through technical expertise, collaboration and sound analysis.

We currently have one Permanent Imagery Officer and one Permanent Imagery Solutions Consultant position available. These are Full-Time positions; however, Part-Time arrangements may be considered.

Role Requirements

To be successful in the Level 4 Imagery Officer role, please demonstrate:

  • Proven technical capability in imagery and spatial data processing, including experience integrating and analysing imagery and spatial datasets using GIS and related tools to produce accurate and timely products.
  • Proven ability to work effectively as part of a team and adapt to changing priorities, contributing positively to shared outcomes while adjusting to new tasks, tools and ways of working.
  • Commitment and experience delivering high quality results, including attention to detail, adherence to standards and procedures, and a focus on producing reliable outputs that meet customer and business needs.

To be successful in the Level 5 Imagery Solutions Consultant role, please demonstrate:

  • High-level technical expertise in earth observation, imagery analysis and GIS, with experience designing and delivering imagery‑based solutions that integrate spatial data into reliable, high‑value products and services.
  • Proven ability to engage with stakeholders to understand and articulate complex business and customer needs, translating those needs into clear requirements and contributing to documentation that supports system and solution development.
  • Previous experience in planning and managing work programs, prioritise tasks and resources, and apply strategic thinking to deliver effective products and services in a timely manner.
  • Proven ability to contribute effectively within a team environment, working collaboratively to identify improvements, share knowledge, and support continuous improvement in processes and team practices while adapting to changing priorities.
