We are seeking to establish a pool of Home Economics Assistants for permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2026 school year and up to the end of Term 1, 2027. Appointments may be offered at any time for vacancies that commence during this period.

The Role

Gilmore College is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Home Economics Assistant.

In this role, you will support teachers in delivering planned education programs and assist with the preparation and maintenance of the learning environment. This includes maintaining equipment, materials and resources for classroom use, undertaking regular cleaning duties as directed, and supporting the care and supervision of students. Strong computer literacy is highly desirable.

The successful applicant will display a proactive and positive approach, with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. You ideally will be well organised, able to prioritise tasks effectively, and show initiative in your day-to-day work.

You may also be required to work with students individually or in small groups during out-of-class activities and school excursions. Additional responsibilities may include assisting with ordering, stocktaking, and monitoring stock levels. A strong focus on maintaining a safe, well-resourced learning environment is desirable, with student health and safety as a key priority.
