This is a 9 month fixed term, full-time position commencing June 2026 with possible extension and/or permanency

Narrogin or Northam location. No Government Regional Officer Housing (GROH) housing accommodation. Regional and Local Education Offices form a critical network that supports public schools across the State, with eight Regional Education Offices and a number of Local Education Offices operating in alignment with local context and needs as determined by the Director of Education. These offices act as a key link between schools and the Department, ensuring consistent implementation of system priorities and policies.

Staff within these offices work collaboratively with school leaders to provide guidance, promote system-wide initiatives, and deliver targeted support aimed at improving student outcomes. Their role is to strengthen school performance, enhance operational effectiveness, and ensure schools are equipped to meet the diverse needs of their communities.

The Role

This role serves as the first point of contact for school administrators, providing accurate, high-level advice to support the effective management of daily school operations in line with relevant legislation and Departmental policies. It delivers professional, administrative, and operational support to the Directors of Education, while maintaining a strong customer service focus to manage enquiries, concerns, and complaints efficiently and professionally. The role also ensures the delivery of clear, timely, and accurate information to uphold and enhance the public profile of education.

In addition, the position plays a key role in coordinating communication between schools, the regional office, and central office, including the preparation of high-quality correspondence such as briefings, reports, and responses for the Minister, Directors of Education, and senior executives. It supports the implementation of system-wide strategies and programs, collaborates with school support services, and builds effective relationships with schools, other agencies, industry, and the broader community to promote a positive image of the Department.

The role also contributes to monitoring, reviewing, and reporting on regional performance against Departmental objectives, and represents the Director of Education and the Department on committees and working groups when required. Where staff supervision is involved, the role is responsible for managing performance and leave entitlements in accordance with relevant public sector standards, agreements, and Departmental policies.
