This is a permanent full-time position commencing Term 3, 2026

Leda Education Support Centre (ESC) is committed to providing a safe, inclusive learning environment where all students can achieve their potential. Leda ESC was opened in 1992. Our school population lives in the southwestern corridor filtering into Baldivis and Settlers Hills and outlying areas. Leda ESC caters for students from Kindergarten to Year 6 who have been diagnosed with an Intellectual Disability, Global Development Delay and/or Autism with a demonstrated high educational need.

Leda ESC shares a site with Leda Primary School. Staff across both schools work hard to develop and maintain productive, collaborative relationships that benefit all students. Integration forms an important part of student programs and opportunities are sought through a collaborative teaching approach across both schools.

The Role

At Leda ESC, the Associate Principal will become a valued member of a committed and experienced leadership team working collaboratively to support students with a range of disabilities including Autism and Intellectual Disabilities. The successful applicant should be an approachable and credible leader who communicates effectively, builds strong relationships and leads with consistency, empathy and purpose.

This role suits a leader who is ideally enthusiastic, resilient and solutions‑focused, with a strong capacity to respond proactively to the needs of staff and students. A particular emphasis is placed on supporting students with complex disabilities, trauma backgrounds and high individual needs. The Associate Principal should actively contribute to the promotion of a calm, inclusive and supportive school environment, leading improvement initiatives that enhance student wellbeing, engagement and learning outcomes.

The Associate Principal holds significant responsibility for driving excellence in teaching and learning across the school. This includes leading the implementation and monitoring of whole‑school priorities aligned with the Leda ESC Business Plan. Working closely with staff, the successful applicant will guide the consistent application of agreed pedagogical practices, ensuring clarity, shared understanding and high expectations. A key focus of the role is the ongoing development and embedding of the school’s pedagogical framework, including the effective implementation of approaches such as Explicit Instruction.

A strong knowledge of inclusive education and disability is important. Experience in areas such as, Disability Resource System (DRS) processes, Special Educational Needs (SEN) reporting, attendance monitoring and trauma‑informed practice will be viewed very favourably. The successful applicant will ideally display a deep commitment to equity, inclusion and student‑centred practice, aligned with the school values.
