The Role

The successful applicant will ideally show the professional knowledge, practices and experience to deliver an engaging and relevant secondary school English curriculum. An understanding and experience in the teaching of literacy skills is highly advantageous. As part of this role, you should be curious about student learning and build productive working relationships with students and your colleagues to improve student outcomes.

The successful applicant should have the ability to work collaboratively to plan and implement effective teaching and learning plans. Applicants will ideally provide excellence in creating and maintaining supportive and safe learning environment and provide educational opportunities and activities which enable students to achieve their highest potential. The successful applicant will ideally understand and use culturally responsive practices and pedagogies. They will work with families, community and the STARS, Clontarf and Follow the Dream Foundations to support ongoing student success.

As a member of the English team, you will be an open collaborator who is flexible and focused on building positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues to achieve the best educational outcomes for students. Ideally, you will employ innovative practices to support students in achieving successful outcomes and continually reflect on your own practice to enhance student performance. The ability to adapt with and utilise technology within the English learning area would be highly regarded.

Eligible staff will receive a percentage of this payment on commencement at the school, with the remainder paid at the end of the school year. Staff must remain employed in the location until the end of the school year to be eligible to receive the second payment.

The temporary ARI payment is in addition to other incentives that may apply in this school.

Mobility appointments for permanent metropolitan and southwest teachers

Eligible permanent teachers who hold a substantive teaching position in a North or South Education Region school, or a Southwest Education Region school* may elect to undertake this role as a 3-year mobility appointment, with a right of return to their substantive position. At the cessation of the 3-year mobility appointment, teachers can elect to return to their substantive role or transfer permanently into this school.
