This is a fixed term, full-time position commencing July 2026 up until March 2029

The Infrastructure Division is responsible for the planning, construction and maintenance of the Department’s schools and building facilities. Infrastructure services and supports:

  • school and facility planning
  • capital works on new and existing schools
  • maintenance of existing schools
  • management and operational support of school facilities and resources.

The Role

As Principal Project Officer you will implement the capital works program, capital projects, minor works and maintenance, capital resource sharing and matters relating to school facilities. You will have responsibility to coordinate and contribute to the development and implementation of projects, in particular the research, analysis and development of capital works programs and projects relating to school facilities. This position will provide support for specific projects including the review of the primary school brief and secondary school planning guide and the development of the new East Perth Primary School.

Through effective communication and interpersonal skills, you will establish and maintain collaborative working relationships and networks with internal and external stakeholders. Negotiate with school staff and communities regarding priority of needs, development of feasibility studies and determines budgets for individual projects. Applicants with strong experience and ability to mentor and lead a small team, consult, collaborate, and negotiate in the effective deployment of resources, including people, finances and information are highly desired.

The role will include researching, developing and implementing financial management training programs and resources for Departmental staff. Maintaining effective communication links and working relationships to ensure access to diverse specialist knowledge.
