The Role
Join our team as a Gardener – Handyperson and play a key role in caring for a truly special school environment nestled within the natural bushlands of the beautiful Perth Hills. This is a unique opportunity for someone with a passion for native landscapes to make a lasting impact on a vibrant school community.
In this role, you should take pride in maintaining and enhancing our extensive grounds, with a strong focus on native bushland management. From caring for turf areas, garden beds, supporting school learning environments and horticulture spaces to nurturing native plants and preserving the natural character of the surrounding bush, your expertise should help create a calm, engaging, and inspiring environment for students and staff alike. You’ll also maintain hard landscaping features such as courts and paved areas, ensuring the school remains safe, functional, and welcoming.
We are ideally seeking someone with experience or a strong interest in native bushland care - knowledge of local flora, sustainable land management practices, weed control, and habitat awareness will be highly valued. Your ability to work with the natural environment, rather than against it, will be key to maintaining the unique character of our school grounds.
Working as part of a collaborative team of two gardeners, you will partner closely with the Manager of Corporate Services as the gardening facilities team to develop safe work procedures, undertake risk assessments, and ensure compliance with Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) requirements. Your shared commitment to safety, sustainability, and high standards will play an important role in fostering a positive and respectful school culture.
