The Role

The Program Coordinator – Teaching and Learning, in collaboration with the senior leadership team, will be responsible for building staff capacity to align classroom practice with Gilmore College’s Teaching and Learning Framework, ensuring high‑impact, evidence‑based instruction that actively engages every student through individualised approaches to learning, literacy and numeracy.

A key responsibility is supporting teachers to develop and embed explicit teaching practices consistent with the Department’s Teaching for Impact document including clearly structured, finely sequenced teaching informed by ongoing evaluation of impact.

The role provides leadership in delivering integrated, differentiated, personalised and culturally responsive learning experiences, supporting staff to analyse student data, understand learner diversity, and design programs that place students at the centre of quality teaching and learning.

Through modelling effective instructional strategies and promoting whole‑school consistency, the position contributes to building a culture of teaching excellence at Gilmore College.

Under the leadership of the executive team, the successful applicant should use established and agreed improvement strategies to implement effective Quality Teaching and Learning practices across all learning areas. This will include individualised support for students in terms of learning, behaviour, literacy and numeracy, and ongoing staff support and development through the design and delivery of targeted professional learning.

The successful applicant will support graduate teachers, aspirant Level 3 Classroom teachers, Teach for Australia teachers and be able to provide instructional coaching.

The Program Coordinator – Teaching and Learning contributes to the development of the school plan through participative decision making, including assisting in developing policy and establishing and maintaining systems.

Applicants who foster a growth mindset and a culture of professional curiosity, collaboration, and innovation, and who can work with senior staff in establishing safe and accountable observation processes, will be highly regarded.

You will ideally display:

  • A strong understanding of, and ability to apply, contemporary pedagogical knowledge.
  • The proven ability to engage and support staff in implementing new pedagogical approaches based on reflection on their practice.
  • Experience in planning and delivering effective professional learning programs tailored to the Gilmore College context.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to build trust with colleagues, stakeholders and students.
