This is a permanent full-time position commencing Term 2, 2026

Lathlain Primary School (PS) caters for students in Kindergarten to Year Six and provides academic, social, physical and emotional well-being for our students. Our staff work with parents, carers and families to maximise opportunities for each student to reach their potential. These relationships are valued and are important partnerships that support a positive and nurturing learning environment.

Our vision statement reflects the journey that we are on as a school community encapsulated in the statement: Building successful lifelong learners and developing empowered individuals in a caring and connected community. This vision is not only a reflection of our collective aspirations but also a commitment to ensuring every child is known, valued, and supported to thrive—academically, socially, and emotionally.

To achieve this vision or Business Plan 2025 – 2028 is anchored by four interdependent improvement drivers:

Quality Teaching and Leadership We recognise that expert teaching and strong, reflective leadership are the most powerful tools we have to improve student outcomes. We are committed to fostering a high-performance culture where staff engage in continuous professional learning, instructional coaching, and evidence-informed practice. Leadership at all levels—classroom, team, and whole school—will be developed and supported to drive innovation, build capacity, and lead improvement across the school.

Student Achievement and Progress Our students will be at the centre of every decision we make. Through high-quality, differentiated teaching and the effective use of data, we will monitor progress and implement targeted strategies to lift achievement for all learners. Our focus will remain on both academic excellence and the holistic development of each student, ensuring they are equipped with the skills, confidence, and agency to shape their futures.

Learning Environment We will continue to cultivate safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environments that reflect our belief that every child deserves to feel a strong sense of belonging. Our learning spaces—both physical and emotional—will support creativity, collaboration, and critical thinking. We will promote positive behaviours and wellbeing through consistent whole-school approaches that empower students to make positive choices and build respectful relationships.

Relationships Strong partnerships are the foundation of a successful school. We will work collaboratively with families, staff, community organisations, and external agencies to create a wraparound approach to student success. Communication will be transparent and purposeful, and our practices will reflect our commitment to genuine, respectful engagement with all stakeholders.

Central to our school’s identity are the values that underpin our culture and guide the way we work and interact:

  • Community: We believe that education is a shared journey. We actively engage families and the wider community as partners in learning, wellbeing, and safety. This sense of belonging and shared responsibility enriches our school and strengthens outcomes for all students
  • Attitude: We foster a culture of resilience, responsibility, and curiosity. Students are encouraged to see challenges as opportunities for growth, to take ownership of their learning, and to bounce back from setbacks with determination and self-belief.
  • Respect: Respect is the cornerstone of our inclusive school culture. We welcome and celebrate diversity, promote kindness and fairness, and encourage every member of our community to listen deeply and act with integrity.
  • Excellence: We are committed to excellence in all that we do. We set high expectations, inspire creativity, and provide opportunities for students to explore their passions, take risks, and achieve their personal best in a supportive and encouraging environment.
