The Role
As a Special Needs Education Assistant (SNEA) Lead you will work under teacher direction, assist in education programs and in promoting a supportive and inclusive learning environment. Education assistants assist teachers in the delivery of planned education programs to assist students to reach their full potential through the development of their academic, social, emotional, and physical skills including the operation of computers and digital technologies. Within this role, you would provide feedback when required on education and therapy programs and participate in the evaluation process relating to the achievement of goals in special education.
In addition, the Lead Education Assistant will be an important and valued leader within the school, working closely with the Manager Corporate Services and Student Support Coordinator to support and develop the Education Assistant workforce. In the role of Lead Special Needs Education Assistant (SNEA), you will lead, mentor, coach, and model best practice, fostering a collaborative and high-performing team culture.
As Lead SNEA you will be responsible for mentoring SNEAs, including those undertaking practicum placements. You will conduct classroom observations, provide constructive performance feedback, and contribute to workforce development by supporting the Administration Team with informed insights and recommendations. The ideal candidate should display initiative, professionalism, and sound judgement, with the ability to exercise discretion in problem solving and decision making.
The successful applicant should display strong organisational and communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain effective team-based relationships across the school community. You will ideally work collaboratively with teachers and leadership to develop strategies that enhance student care and strengthen educational programs, promoting positive student behaviour and improved learning outcomes.

- Demonstrated well developed organisational skills, including the ability to coordinate staff rosters and relief to assist in the delivery of effective education programs.
