The Role
The Design and Technology Assistant will support the effective delivery of the curriculum by preparing classrooms, laboratories and workshops to ensure teachers can instruct students efficiently. The role involves preparing specialised equipment and materials and providing operational advice during design and technology workshops, classes and demonstrations. The assistant would also design and construct teaching aids that meet required standards and support teaching and curriculum needs. Responsibilities include maintaining, evaluating and assessing technical equipment, carrying out routine repairs and maintenance on design and technology tools and machinery, and arranging off-site repairs when necessary.
In addition, the assistant will support stock management processes, including coordinating stock-take activities, and provide guidance on the safe use, storage and disposal of equipment and related materials to ensure a safe working and learning environment.

- Demonstrated knowledge of Design and Technology subjects relevant to secondary schools.
- Demonstrated good written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to deal effectively with individuals at all levels.
- Demonstrated organisational and time management skills and ability to work independently.
