This is a 12 month fixed term, full-time position commencing Term 2, 2026 with possible extension

The Role

Hedland SHS is currently seeking a highly experienced, dynamic, organised and innovative Program Coordinator – Engagement Programs, for our Success Program, which is part of the BHP Pilbara Education Partnership. The Success Program provides students with extensive wraparound support for their wellbeing and academic achievement.

The program consists of students with a range of complex needs, requiring targeted and differentiated curriculum, and strategic planning. The Program Coordinator – Engagement Programs will work collaboratively with specialist teachers, support staff, and the Deputy Principal to ensure authentic, relevant, meaningful and challenging learning programs are delivered with a focus on literacy, numeracy, social emotional learning, work readiness skills, micro-credentials and opportunities for students to explore and pursue pathways into further training or employment.

The ideal applicant would be a highly effective interpersonal leader with expertise in curriculum development, who works collaboratively with staff, students, carers and community to co-design and implement data-informed and differentiated learning programs, while creating further innovative opportunities to support student engagement, learning and achievement. The successful applicant will also have the opportunity to collaborate with support staff in developing documented support planning, and other planning to support individual student needs.

Our ideal applicant would ideally display:

  • Strong cultural awareness, interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with parents, carers, and the wider community, building productive relationships across diverse educational settings.
  • Exceptional leadership, organisational, and time management abilities, including management of staff, resources, and finances while ensuring high educational outcomes.
  • Expertise in analysing data and applying professional knowledge to drive high quality curriculum development and increased student achievement.
  • Apply restorative practices and behaviour management strategies to foster positive learning environments.

In addition to the above abilities, the successful applicant will ideally be skilled in the following areas:

  • high level interpersonal skills to productively support and lead a large team of teachers and allied support staff
  • a high level of cultural awareness, and proven ability to engage positively with parents, carers, and the wider community
  • exceptional leadership and organisational skills, including the ability to manage time effectively, prioritise, keep accurate records
  • the ability to analyse a wide range of data to inform future practice resulting in year-on-year improvement for students
  • a strong understanding of restorative practices, classroom management strategies and the positive behaviour in school’s model
  • a broad understanding of a range of learning difficulties and support strategies to maximise learning outcomes for all students
  • a commitment to excellence in teaching, willingness to engage in regular self-reflection and professional learning designed to take your career to the next level.

This role may also include a teaching load.

Staff must remain employed in the location until the end of the school year to be eligible to receive the second payment.

The temporary ARI payment is in addition to other incentives that may apply in this school.
