
We are seeking to establish a pool of Special Needs Education Assistants for permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2026 school year and up to the end of Term 1, 2027. Appointments may be offered at any time for vacancies that commence during this period.
Success Primary School (PS) is located in the City of Cockburn and proudly supports a diverse and inclusive community of approximately 590 students from kindergarten to Year 6, across both mainstream and education support programs. The Role
At Success PS we are committed to building high performing teams that positively impact student outcomes. We work closely with many allied health professionals, parents, caregivers and our school psychologist to support every child’s learning journey.
As a Special Needs Education Assistant, you will ideally, under general supervision and guidance, support teaching staff to deliver planned education programs and undertake a range of tasks tailored to meet the diverse needs of our students. You should draw on your experience, skills, knowledge and relevant qualifications to apply effective strategies and practises in the classroom. A commitment to collaboration to our school’s share vision is highly regarded.
Suitable applicants would ideally have knowledge of working with children with a range of disabilities including intellectual disability, physical disabilities and various presentations of autism spectrum disorder. Experience working with students with complex behavioural, medical, and social needs would be highly regarded.
The ability to form genuine, positive and caring relationships with our students is important to this role. Our whole school approaches such as Team Teach, Zones of Regulation and Protective Behaviours ensure all students feel safe, valued and connected. Communication is a top priority for our students. Special Needs Education Assistants are encouraged to use Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) such as visuals, Key Word Sign, Pragmatic Organised Dynamic Display (PODD) and student specific communication devices.
Please note that our Special Needs Education Assistants work across both education support and mainstream classrooms. Suitable applicants should be prepared to work in both settings.

- Demonstrated effective interpersonal skills with the ability to contribute to a professional team and provide advice and evaluation in the development of the education program, including special education and therapy programs where they have been implemented.
- Demonstrated ability to assist professionals in the implementation and evaluation of education programs, including special education and if required, occupational and/or physiotherapy programs.
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of health and physical disabilities in students and adolescents.
- Demonstrated effective organisational skills that will assist in the delivery of effective education programs and subsequent feedback and evaluation to teachers or psychologists.
- Demonstrated ability to assist with the general health and wellbeing of students.
