The School of Special Educational Needs: Disability (SSEND)

SSEND is one of eight Specialist Schools within the Department that operates within a federation of four schools of Special Educational Needs, including the School of Special Educational Needs: Behaviour and Engagement (SSENBE), the School of Special educational Needs: Medical and Mental Health (SSENMMH), and the School of Special Educational Needs: Sensory (SSENS) to coordinate support for schools where possible and to share resources and expertise. Support is provided state-wide through a Request for Assistance model that matches the needs of the schools to the skillset of our staff.

SSEND is a school that thrives for excellence and is committed to building the capacity of teachers and school-based staff within a culture of support to ensure every student with disability is a successful student. We provide consultancy services to educators, contextualised and evidence informed professional learning, online research, information, resources and practical support in our service delivery model.

We have teams based at Statewide Services Centre (Padbury), at our South hub (south Lake PS) and in regional centres across the State. The successful applicant will be based at our Padbury hub.

The Role

The role of the Business Support Officer is to assist the Manager Corporate Services in the administrative, financial, marketing, corporate sponsorship, physical and human aspects of the school’s operations.

The successful applicant will ideally have excellent interpersonal skills combined with the ability to work both in a team environment and autonomously that promotes inclusivity and cohesion in the workplace. A capacity to interact with empathy while simultaneously developing and maintaining positive and professional relationships within our diverse school community is highly desired.

The successful applicant should also be able to effectively prioritise tasks, meet deadlines and work well under pressure with high level accuracy and attention to detail.
