We are seeking to establish a pool of Early Childhood and Primary Teachers for permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2026 school year. Appointments may be offered at any time for vacancies that commence during this period.

Note: This position is being advertised as part of a recruitment pilot designed to simplify the application process for teachers. A mandatory CV template is provided for use. Application requirements include character limited responses to address only 2 Australian Institute for Teaching and School Leadership (AITSL) domains at application stage. The remaining AITSL domain will be assessed as part of the further assessment stage, for shortlisted applicants only.

The School

North Tom Price Primary School (PS) is one of two primary schools located in Tom Price in the Pilbara region of WA, approximately 1465 km from Perth. The school has attractive grounds which adjoin the local oval and is surrounded by the nearby ranges of the picturesque Hamersley Ranges. The renowned Karijini National Park is a short drive away providing a picturesque recreational area to visit and enjoy. The town offers many opportunities for sporting and recreational pursuits available all year round. 

We foster positive and collaborative working relationships between parents, staff and students and 'together we strive' to achieve the best possible outcomes for each child. Working in collaborative teams teachers are supported through opportunities for professional learning, growth and development.  We encourage staff to develop their capacity and offer opportunities to develop leadership and quality teaching skills within a Culturally Responsive approach.  

We have a strong focus on Student Engagement, our teachers lead our Positive Behaviour in Schools approach to support a positive classroom environment. As a Quality Teacher Partnership School we are developing a consistent pedagogical approach aligned to Teaching for Impact and evidence-based practices. Our current Specialist Areas are Science/Technologies, Health and Physical Education and the Arts. We work with the strengths of our staff to align curriculum decisions to meet student needs. 

Our Early Childhood Team (K-2), are focused on the development of a strong play philosophy, aligned with evidenced based practices in the explicit teaching of Literacy and Numeracy.  

Early intervention and inclusive practice led in consultation with allied services, are supported by an Early Years Deputy Principal. The school is also involved in the Small Group Tuition Program with a focus on developing Literacy through the use of Multi-Tiered Systems of support.

Mobility appointments for permanent metropolitan and south west teachers

Eligible permanent teachers who hold a substantive teaching position in a North or South Education Region school, or a South West Education Region school* may elect to undertake this role as a 3-year mobility appointment, with a right of return to their substantive position.  At the cessation of the 3-year mobility appointment, teachers can elect to return to their substantive role, or transfer permanently into this school.
