This is a permanent full-time position commencing Term 2, 2026

Challis Community Primary School (PS) believes in enabling students to reach their academic, social and emotional potential whilst becoming valuable members of the community. As a school community our mission is to deliver an excellent standard of education that supports students to achieve results equal to, or above state norms. Our school provides high quality education, alongside innovative programs and services, which cater to the needs of each individual child and their family. Challis Community PS is unique in offering health and education services from birth, with formal schooling ranging from 3 Year-Old Pre-Kindergarten to Year 6.

Our school's teaching programs allow all children to develop the necessary knowledge and skills to become confident learners. We pride ourselves on offering effective, individualised Literacy and Numeracy programs. We also offer a variety of specialist subjects including Music, Science, History, Physical Education and Health. The Challis Parenting and Early Learning Centre offers a selection of health, education and social services including a Child Health Nurse, new mothers' groups, playgroups and parent education sessions.

Challis Community PS is a large Primary school catering for 750 primary school students and 30 3 Year-Old Pre-Kindergarten children. Challis is very complex and busy school located in a very low socioeconomic area. We also have onsite partnerships with My world daycare, Curtin university and several other partnerships.

The Role

The successful applicant will manage the financial, physical and human resource aspects of the school's operations and administer all school support staff whilst reporting, developing and implementing human resource and financial management strategies to ensure the integrity of the school's business operations. The successful applicant will provide consultancy and advice into financial planning and budgeting, as well as the administration and reporting on the diverse funding entities for which the school is responsible whilst in collaboration with the Principal and/or the Executive, provide operational input to the development of the school’s workforce, business and marketing plans and oversee the school’s financial performance against the plans.

The successful applicant will assist the Principal in ensuring that the school meets corporate financial objectives and that Regional and Corporate reporting requirements are met whilst participating in school-based and Regional committees and working groups to ensure alignment with the school's business targets and objectives. The successful applicant will develop, implement and monitor effective asset management and coordination strategies for school facilities, equipment and buildings whilst developing and managing financial, human resource and information management processes, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and Departmental policies and guidelines.

The successful applicant will undertake research and project work in relation to business trends and issues which may impact on the financial, physical or human resource aspects of the school's operations whilst monitoring and managing staff leave entitlements to ensure accrued leave is cleared within a reasonable timeframe and in accordance with relevant awards, agreements and Departmental policy. You will manage staff performance in accordance with the Public Sector Performance Management Standard and Departmental policy.

Due to recent retirements within the office team, the team is a transition stage, therefore, previous employment as a School Manager Corporate service would be an advantage.
