
We are seeking to establish a pool of Special Needs Education Assistants for permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2026 school year and up to the end of Term 1, 2027. The Role

The successful applicant will ideally display a high level of commitment to supporting students with a diverse range of additional needs within a mainstream education environment. The ability to work flexibly and effectively with students across the college is highly desirable.
Under limited guidance, the Education Assistant Special Needs can be expected to provide support and advice to schools and teachers on the management program of students at risk, design and implement behaviour management plans and implement individual or small group programs or demonstrations in consultation with teachers and parents or relevant professional.
The successful applicants should assist with the preparation and maintenance of the learning environment by maintaining equipment, materials and resources, for use in classes, displays and demonstration, and assisting the teacher with clean and safe storage of items after classes and activities. For this role you should be organised and be able to use your initiative. These skills will be utilised to aid teachers with the general care and well-being of students.
The successful applicant will ideally display a high level of motivation and the ability to engage students effectively, supporting the development of student independence through planned and explicit approaches that promote self-management and self-regulation skills.
Highly developed skills in the use of educational technology, escalation profiling, positive behaviour support strategies, and the accurate monitoring, maintenance, and reporting of student records are highly desirable.

- Demonstrated ability to assist professionals in the implementation and evaluation of education programs, including special education and, if required, occupational and/or physiotherapy programs.
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of health and physical disabilities in students and adolescents.
- Demonstrated effective organisational skills that will assist in the delivery of effective education programs and subsequent feedback and evaluation to teachers or psychologists.
- Demonstrated ability to assist with the general health and well being of students.
