The Role

Suitable applicants will ideally be empathetic, caring, flexible and use initiative to assist with the modification and maintenance of the learning environment. As an EASN suitable applicants should possess a high level of interpersonal skills, provide feedback on education and therapy programs. In the role of an EASN you should be able to support students and classes across a wide range of curriculum areas and year levels within the school. It is important that suitable applicants ideally have a positive attitude and the ability to anticipate and adapt to change, showing initiative and flexibility to produce the best opportunities for students. Suitable applicants will assist the teacher in the delivery of planned education programs to assist students to reach their full potential through the development of their academic, social, emotional, and physical skills.

Evidence Based Practices for students with ASD are used within the SLP. A knowledge of Applied Behaviour Analysis is an advantage and data collection is a key component of the SLP. Staff within the Program are committed to ongoing specialised training to ensure they remain informed of current research. Flexibility is the key as the school aims to have staff who can work between both the SLP and Mainstream classrooms with students’ integration.

The ability to work independently, and at times without supervision; and the ability to think on your feet and use your initiative to manage challenging behaviours are also highly desirable. Applicants with experience working with special needs students, in particular students with ASD, are encouraged to apply. Suitable applicants should show excellent communication, interpersonal and organisational skills as well as work in a highly collaborative manner in promoting a supportive and inclusive learning environment.

The ethos of our school is summed up by ‘Love Learning’, we want every child to love coming to school, every teacher to love their students and our community to love our school.
