Takari is an Aboriginal word meaning 'Tomorrow'. Established in 1969, Takari Primary School is located in the northern suburbs of Perth in the Balcatta area. We cater for students from Kindergarten to Year 6. With an approximate population of 185 students, we are a small school where every child is known and valued.

The staff are highly competent and committed to providing a supportive, safe and nurturing environment to all our students. School improvement initiatives focusing on 'Curriculum and Teaching', 'Conditions for Learning' and 'Leadership and Management' drive our strategic direction. A School Chaplain supports the Student Services team two days a week and a School Psychologist attends one day a week. The school also partners with various agencies that provide trained volunteers to work with small groups or individual students.

The Role

We are seeking an Education Assistant - mainstream that would ideally be enthusiastic and dedicated, exhibit highly effective practices, and can promote active and positive learning. You would preferably be a team player.

The successful applicant would ideally possess the ability to assist in teaching literacy, numeracy, and social skills. You would be flexible and willing to collaborate, work in teams and use explicit teaching techniques. Under teacher direction, you will implement individual and small group programs or demonstrations. Sound organisational skills is required to assist in the preparation and maintenance of the learning environment and school resources. Ideally you would also assist the teacher with supervision of students during class activities and excursions, as well as assisting with the general care and wellbeing of the students.
