We are seeking to establish a pool of Education Assistant - Special Needs for permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2026 school year and up to the end of Term 1, 2027. Appointments may be offered at any time for vacancies that commence during this period.
There will be at least one full time, permanent position commencing Term 2, 2026.

The Role
Suitable applicants will ideally support the Department's objective of high-quality teaching and learning for students with special needs, contributing to an inclusive, safe and supportive school environment. You will ideally work closely and collaboratively with the school's Student Support Team.
We are seeking highly experienced Special Needs Education Assistants who ideally display a consistently patient and regulated demeanour, particularly when working with students who present with complex and at times highly challenging behaviours. The ability to remain composed under pressure, respond proactively, and implement consistent behaviour support strategies is desirable. Applicants should have extensive experience managing complex behaviours and a reasonable understanding of trauma aware practices. Training in Team Teach Positive Handling is highly desirable.
In this role, you will ideally work collaboratively with allied health professionals to ensure therapy goals are meaningfully embedded into daily classroom practice. You will ideally assist teachers in delivering planned education programs, including the effective use of computers and digital technologies, and will ideally implement individual and small group programs, prepare resources and support classroom displays. Experience using Compass for recording observations and student progress is highly regarded; alternatively, applicants should display strong computer confidence and the capacity to learn school-based systems efficiently. Additionally, you will ideally provide constructive feedback and actively participate in monitoring and evaluation processes to support student growth and wellbeing.

- Demonstrated ability to assist teachers or therapists in implementing educational programs, including special education and, should this be a requirement of the position, occupational and/or physiotherapy programs.
- Demonstrated knowledge of health and physical disabilities in students and adolescents.
- Demonstrated ability to assist with general health and well-being of students.
