The Role

The Program Coordinator (PC) – Intensive English Centre (IEC) works collaboratively with the principal and members of the administrative team to provide educational leadership within the school and the wider community to ensure the effective operation and continuous development of the Intensive English Centre at Lynwood SHS. You should contribute to the overarching vision, values and priorities of Lynwood SHS, promoting a student-centred approach that places high expectations on teaching, learning and student wellbeing. Through supportive leadership, you will ideally lead the IEC team through collaboration, coaching and reflective practice, fostering a professional culture that promotes continuous improvement, staff capacity building and inclusive practices for students from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.

As the PC IEC, you would play a key role in ensuring the IEC operates as an inclusive and responsive program aligned with whole-school processes while recognising and adapting to the unique needs of newly arrived students, many of whom come from limited schooling backgrounds. You should lead the coordination and evaluation of the IEC program, including enrolment, orientation and transition processes, modification of the Western Australian Curriculum to support English language acquisition, and the development of systems that monitor student progress and program effectiveness. Working closely with the school psychologist and student services team, the PC IEC ideally contributes to the coordination of student wellbeing supports and leads complex case management processes for highly vulnerable students, ensuring appropriate intervention, collaboration and support.

As a dynamic, highly adaptable and committed leader, the PC IEC should respond to complex challenges with innovative and creative solutions while maintaining strong organisational processes that support effective program delivery. You would use your highly developed interpersonal and public relations skills to establish and maintain strong relationships with staff, families, community organisations and external agencies, including Statewide Services English as an Additional Language/Dialect.

There is a possibility the FTE for this position may increase in the future.
