Wiluna Remote Community School (RCS) is seeking to employ a Program Coordinator - Secondary Pathways

Wiluna RCS caters for Kindergarten to Year 12 students and has a small school population of approximately 80–100 students, supported by a positive and inclusive school culture.

The school offers an established Two-Way Science and Youth Ranger program, supporting secondary students to develop practical skills, work On-Country, and preserve cultural knowledge. A targeted literacy intervention program operates across the school and is currently expanding into the high school, with plans to strengthen numeracy in the future. Teaching and learning are guided by the Martu Seasonal Calendar, a locally developed curriculum framework created by community members to ensure learning is connected to Country, culture, and community knowledge.

The Role

Wiluna RCS is seeking a strategic and relationship-driven Program Coordinator – Secondary Pathways to lead the development of strong, culturally responsive post-school pathways in a remote context. This position carries a 0.5 FTE teaching load, with the remaining 0.5 FTE dedicated to coordinating senior secondary progression, Vocational Education and Training (VET), and structured employment pathways. The successful applicant will play a central role in ensuring students attain the Western Australian Certificate of Education (WACE) while developing clear, achievable futures aligned with both regional workforce needs and community aspirations.

A key priority of this role is the development of ranger and culturally responsive career progressions in partnership with the Wiluna Martu Rangers. The Program Coordinator will work closely with the Rangers to design structured pathway opportunities that embed On-Country learning, environmental stewardship, land management, and intergenerational knowledge transfer into accredited learning and VET frameworks. This includes creating clear progression maps from school-based learning into ranger cadetships, traineeships, and further qualifications, ensuring students can see tangible employment pathways that honour culture, Country, and community leadership.

The Program Coordinator will oversee Year 11 and 12 progress toward WACE and VET completion, maintaining strong partnerships with providers such as TAFE Western Australia and the School of Isolated and Distance Education. A strong emphasis will be placed on monitoring and analysing assessment data to track literacy, numeracy, course completion, VET competencies, and Award Scheme Development and Accreditation Network (ASDAN) outcomes. The successful applicant will work closely with the school’s Literacy Coordinator to ensure consistency of practice across the school, aligning pathway planning with whole-school literacy and numeracy priorities and ensuring that assessment data informs targeted intervention, differentiation, and senior secondary case management.

This role is suited to an educator who is both strategic and culturally responsive, capable of building strong community partnerships, embedding data-driven practice, and ensuring that every young person in Wiluna leaves school with a coherent, supported, and meaningful career pathway.
