At Newton Moore ESC we believe that effective teachers build relationships and connections which are key to student success. We are role models and lead by example in our classes. We know strong self-reflection is important and take opportunities to grow. We acknowledge and challenge our cultural responsiveness and seek to learn. We take opportunities to know our students from all transition points in school and all areas of their wellbeing. We take an interest in them as individuals and all they can add to our school tapestry.
We plan with the child at the centre, with families and young people, through Individual Education Plans and Person Centred Plans. We differentiate our learning through tiered responses and collaborative planning. Our learning is delivered through strong relationships and structured routines with clear, taught expectations. We create safe learning spaces with tiered supports and trained staff to build student academic, social and pastoral needs.
We teach our students in the way they prefer to learn; we recognise our learners are individuals and required approaches that meet where they are at, as we do with assessment.
