The Role

Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, the Student Support Officer helps ensure that students who require additional support are connected to the right people, strategies and services at the right time.

The Student Support Officer assists in coordinating the school’s student services and contributes to developing responsive systems that support students experiencing social, emotional, behavioural or engagement challenges.

The role combines coordination, collaboration and problem-solving. You will work closely with the student services team, teachers, families, leadership staff and external agencies to help remove barriers to learning and ensure students are supported both at school and within the wider community.

Key aspects of the role include:

  • Maintaining accurate records and preparing reports to monitor student progress
  • Researching emerging youth issues and contributing to targeted school initiatives

This role suits someone who can balance empathy with organisation, and who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment where no two days are the same. The role requires an ability to maintain professional boundaries, exercise sound judgement, and work constructively within areas of responsibility and control.

Our ideal applicant is someone who:

  • Builds respectful, collaborative relationships with young people and adults
  • Communicates clearly and professionally with a wide range of stakeholders
  • Is organised and able to manage competing priorities calmly
  • Thinks analytically and contributes practical solutions
  • Has experience supporting students individually or in small groups through a case-management approach
  • Understands and has experience working with local external services and community networks

Experience working in schools, youth services, community organisations or wellbeing support roles is required.
