We are seeking to establish a pool of Special Needs Education Assistants for permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2026 school year. Appointments may be offered at any time for vacancies that commence during this period.

The Role

As a Special Needs Education Assistant, the suitable applicants will ideally assist in the implementation of specialised education programs. Suitable applicants will ideally have effective interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to collaborate well with the teacher to create and maintain a supportive, inclusive education program to meet the specific needs of the students. They will ideally be organised and able to use their initiative to assist the teacher with the general care and well-being of students and maintenance of the learning environment.

Suitable applicants will assist teaching staff in the delivery of planned education programs and in promoting a supportive and inclusive learning environment. They will ideally provide feedback when required on education and therapy programs and participate in the assessment process relating to student progress. They will ideally possess the knowledge and experience of working with students with a range of disabilities and learning difficulties and the ability to support student growth, both academically and socially in the classroom setting.

    • Demonstrated ability to assist teachers or therapists in implementing educational programs, including special education and, should this be a requirement of the position, occupational and/or physiotherapy programs.
    • Demonstrated knowledge of health and physical disabilities in students and adolescents.
    • Demonstrated ability to assist with general health and well-being of students.
