The Role
We are ideally seeking a committed and hardworking School Cleaner to join our cleaning team. This role plays an important part in maintaining a safe, clean and welcoming environment for students, staff and visitors.
About the Role
Working under the direction of the Cleaner‑in‑Charge, you will perform a range of cleaning duties to ensure the school facilities are maintained to a high standard. You will be required to work both independently and as part of a team, following Department of Education policies, procedures and safety requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Internal school cleaning duties may include:
- Cleaning classrooms, offices, library and specialist learning areas
- Vacuuming carpets and dusting furniture and fixtures
- Mopping and maintaining hard floor surfaces
- Cleaning and restocking student and staff toilets
- Removing rubbish and replacing bin liners
- Cleaning internal glass and windows
- General cleaning as directed
External school cleaning duties may include:
- Cleaning verandas, walkways and undercover areas
- Rubbish collection around school grounds
- Cleaning drinking troughs and outside sinks
- Removing cobwebs from buildings
- Cleaning external windows and glass surfaces
- Other external cleaning duties as required
Vacation period duties may include:
- Wet scrubbing and polishing vinyl floors
- Detailed classroom cleaning
- Shampooing carpets
- High‑level window cleaning
- Pressure cleaning external surfaces
- Other deep‑clean tasks directed by the Cleaner‑in‑Charge

The ideal applicant will:
- Have strong attention to detail and pride in maintaining a clean school environment
- Be reliable, punctual and well‑organised
- Be able to follow instructions and work both independently and collaboratively
- Have knowledge of cleaning equipment, chemicals and safe cleaning practices
- Demonstrate a positive attitude and a strong work ethic
